Heiliggeistkirche and the Marktplatz

The late Gothic Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit) on the Marktplatz is the spiritual center of the Old Town. For centuries a wall ran through the nave, dividing it between Catholics and Protestants. From the tower the view runs across the red rooftops all the way to the castle.

Baroque and quiet corners

The Jesuitenkirche (Jesuit Church) stands for the Catholic renewal of the Baroque era, with a bright interior and a treasury museum. Smaller churches out in the districts, from the Providenzkirche to the monastery churches in Neuburg and Ziegelhausen, offer quiet moments well away from the tourist crowds.
